toggle navigation highten digital how we work case studies blog get in touch home blog firstly, let's cover a brief history of webbed it, formed as a partnership by mick and paul gardner (that's me) in september 2003. mick had been running his own letterpress and lithographic printing business for over 40 years, whilst i had been working for various banking, technology, chemical and manufacturing companies installing and supporting computer systems. mick continued to provide print services to his client-base, whilst i introduced a range of web design, development and hosting services. through word of mouth, the web side of the business developed a new client base, surpassing our print activities. in early 2013, mick decided to retire from printing and left webbed it. this was the ideal time to define what we wanted webbed it to become over the next 5-10 years. as such, we've taken the time to redevelop our business proposition and created highten digital, a brand that represents the subtle, but significant business changes we're introducing for you. what are these changes? in the last 10 years we've experienced the rise of google along with the creation of facebook, twitter and a whole host of other online services. now, for very little up front or ongoing cost, online applications and services can help streamline your business processes and improve communications with clients. we've also seen the explosion of mobile devices such as phones, tablets, smart tvs, wearable technology and soon we'll be dealing with smart appliances. in order to succeed, you need someone who can match all these digital opportunities with your ambitions for growth, at a cost that fits within your available resources. as such, we want to have a deeper understanding of your business, in order for us to proactively bring opportunities to your attention as and when we discover them. additionally, we will ensure we set measurable targets for all of your future projects. this is a win-win situation, as you get evidence of a return on your investment, whilst we're proving our ability to deliver you meaningful results. what effect will this have on existing clients? firstly, it was hard for people to pronounce correctly and we constantly had to spell it out to people, often many times per person. the word 'webbed' either conjures up undesirable pictures of animal feet or spiders and we feel 'i.t.' is now a dated acronym that has more to do with computer and network support than the digital technologies we work with. how did we come up with webbed it? i had a 'light bulb' moment whilst driving my car one day (they tend to occur in the car or shower) and it simply stuck. this is not the correct way to create a brand, not that we ever considered webbed it to be a brand. why highten digital?
